Hike to the Zuflucht

Zuflucht is a district of Bad Peterstal-Griesbach, about 15 kilometers west of Freudenstadt on the Schwarzwaldhochstraße. Immediately west of the place Zuflucht lies the 963 meter high Roßbühl with the 1794 built Röschenschanze. The Hohe Kopf, just north of the village, is 943 meters high. The place has less than 100 inhabitants. Close to the Alexanderschanze, the Schwarzwaldhochstraße forks into the B 500 in the direction of Baden-Baden and the B 28 in the direction of Kehl and Strasbourg. Zuflucht is located on the Westweg from Pforzheim to Basel and offers hiking and winter sports. The name is reminiscent of the difficulties that were previously associated with a Black Forest crossing.

The Oppenauer Steige, a popular motorcyclist route, leads to up to 18 percent incline and tight turns from Oppenau to Zuflucht. www.bahn.de
